Our bodies get water not just from the liquids we drink but from many of the foods we eat such as fruits and vegetables. But, if you don’t know the signs to look out for indicating you need more water here are a few to keep in mind especially during the hot summer months:

  • If you’re feeling tired during the day water is a better choice than a caffeinated drink.
  • Sipping on water may have a positive effect if you have trouble concentrating. There’s a study that found that your mood and your ability to think could be due to mild dehydration.
  • Adequate fluid intake helps counteract the stress and strain of constipation.
  • If you feel a mild headache coming on this is a good time for an eight-ounce glass of water.
  • Saliva fights odor-inducing bacteria so if you are experiencing dry mouth this could lead to halitosis, also known as bad breath.

Citrus Water:  Try adding a slice of citrus fruit, such as lemon, lime or orange to a glass of water or several slices of one fruit to a pitcher of water.
